The Gatehouse at Barwidgee Farm
John, Jo & Meg Freudenstein, own and operate The Gatehouse and Barwidgee Farm.
They moved to the area 20 years ago, captivated by the stunning Happy Valley and have been developing and improving the property ever since. For the first 15 years, they grew, harvested and distilled lavender angustifolia essential oil, making their own organic range of skin care products and operating a licenced cafe on site.
They now breed Angus cattle, Australian Stock horses, grow and harvest olives for organic extra virgin olive oil and are also involved in bee keeping.
The Gatehouse is centrally located in the spectacular Happy Valley, in Victoria’s Alpine Region.
Set among the lavender and olive plantations, it’s the ideal place to base yourselves whilst you explore all the delights the region has to offer. Enjoy exploring the area, with Bright, Myrtleford, Beechworth and Milawa all within half an hours’ drive. Or pack a picnic and head off for the day to one of our famous destinations, such as; Mt Buffalo, Falls Creek, Mt Hotham, Lake Buffalo or Wandilagong.
With vaulted ceilings throughout and timber and corrugated iron a feature. The open plan lounge and dining area has large windows to capture the views and wide verandahs for outdoor entertaining. Our stylish retreat boasts stunning views, open plan living and luxurious comfort.
The Gatehouse offers the ultimate in modern and comfortable holiday accommodation for couples and families. The Gatehouse can accommodate up to six people, with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. Both bedrooms have queen sized beds, with the second bedroom also having a set of bunks.
